Once, when I was young, I got lost in the forest. As the day wore on I became more and more disoriented and a sense of dread and fear began to overcome me. I thought I might never find my way out.
I wandered frantically through the trees and underbrush until I came across a pile of neatly stacked stones, a cairn; left by another hiker.
Immediately, my fear diminished. I knew someone else had been here, in the same place, and had made it out. I felt I could do it, too. The cairn was an important touchstone for me that day. I was not alone. It grounded me and helped release me from my fear of being lost.
This site is a cairn, a touchstone meant to comfort you, and me; on our journeys.
I’m glad you’ve found your way here. Welcome.

Hi Pete,
I just featured your story on Kelly on my site Quoteflections with a reflection of my own. I would very much appreciate a visit and possibly a comment.
Best wishes,
Paul C.
